DIAA College Rugby News
IUPUI defeated Bowling Green 26-20 Saturday in the first game for each team in well over a year.
For IUPUI this was a victory in several senses of the word as the Jaguars had to battle through losing a coach and dealing with a recalcitrant school administration.
"We got denied three times to have games," said club president Spencer Strout. "But we kept coming back."
The hoped-for college rugby games for this weekend is a much longer list than the actual games.
Cancelations both last-minute and de-facto have gone on, and that leaves us with a small number of games, but games that still matter.
Here are the scores from Men's and Women's college around the country.
Men D1A and Other Divisions
Marian 60-5 Southern Indiana
Central Washington 27-27 BYU
Life 36-32 Lindenwood
Arizona 62-20 Grand Canyon
Southern Virginia 5-15 Mount St. Mary's
Women D1 Elite
Three games, at the moment anyway, look to be on the slate in men's college rugby this weekend; let's keep the fingers crossed they can play them.
First up is the rematch between Arkansas State and Lindenwood. ASU has to feel like they didn't capitalize on the pressure they built a month ago. So have they been able to improve in training since then? Quite possibly.
Normally we rank men's college teams by division, with a D1A ranking separate from a D1AA ranking or DII, but this year is, of course, different from most, and we're just happy to see teams playing.
