Day Two out of five competition days covering nine days on the calendar isn't easy for any international 7s team, and the USA did pretty well, considering.

The Eagles ended up 1-2 in Vancouver on Sunday, winning that crucial quarterfinal game to make the semis, but losing the next two to finish fourth.

It is generally recognized that black men have been playing rugby since as early as 1900, when James Peters played for the Knowle Rugby Club in England. That is a long time ago.  Speed up to present day, even a casual viewer would recognize that the top tier teams have all featured black athletes in their starting 15. On the flipside, USA lags woefully behind. 

The question is why?

Change is good.

Change works. At least what it does do is help us undrstand what needs to work. If you keep doing the same thing and your rugby team isn't winning, then how can you know what is not working?

Rugby is a great sport in part because it needs all sorts of body types to play - tall guys, wide guys … and sometimes little guys.

On February 18 against Canada, with a big thanks to the tall guys and the big guys, it was the little guys who really stood out.
