Comeback Win for Grand Valley State

Comeback Win for Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State holds onto top spot in their conference.

Grand Valley State University stormed back from a 28-10 deficit to beat Miami of Ohio in probably the game of the year in the Great Lakes D2 Conference.

Miami took an early lead and held it until the final 20 minutes.

"It was a lead Miami deserved," said GVSU Head Coach John Mullett.

The game was certainly back-and-forth, but it seemed that Miami was able to get full value for their opportunities.

Grand Valley State, meanwhile, had some younger players who were learning that nothing comes easy.

In the final quarter of the match, however, Reinhart Stipp started to lead the way. He found some opportunities and connected very well with Luke Francis at center.

With No. 8 Aiden Reilly playing hard all game and finding some scoring chances late, GVSU came back with four tries to win it 36-35.

"A well-earned win," said Mullett. "But it was hardly a certain one."
