US Rugby Foundation Partnering with US Soccer Foundation on Coach Mentoring
The US Rugby Foundation is partnering with the US Soccer Foundation to unveil a coach mentoring program.
The US Soccer Foundation already operates a program to train coaches to serve as mentors for other coaches. This isn't about teaching the Xs and Os of any sport, and more about how to help and interact with young athletes.
The existing program is touted for coaches of any sport, and it's a smart element to bring into rugby because an entry point for many coaches can be youth rugby parents who just want to help out. They don't need game plans, they need direction in how to help kids learn.
The US Soccer Foundation offers online and in-person training.
The training has group fee for up to 50 coaches, so, presumably, the US Rugby Foundation is acting as the conduit for a large group to be able to take this training.
The partnership will be unveiled officially on July 18 at 12:30PM at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC.
