Next Phase Rugby Set to Launch Academy, Camps, and 7s Tournament

Next Phase Rugby is a sponsor of Goff Rugby Report.

Next Phase Rugby has big plans for the rest of 2023 and beyond.  The rugby recruiting platform, known for connecting high school players with United States collegiate programs in the United States, will be introducing its Academy team this summer.  It will also launch summer/winter camps, clinics, and a 7s tournament in 2024.

“Next Phase Rugby’s mission is to connect high school athletes with collegiate rugby programs in the United States.  By adding camps, Academy teams, tours, clinics, and 7s tournaments, we will bring a hands-on approach, as we include collegiate rugby coaches to work directly with high school athletes.  It is all about providing as many opportunities as possible for players and coaches to connect and grow the sport of rugby in the United States,” said Next Phase Rugby co-founder/President, Greg Stelluti.

The Next Phase Rugby Academy’s inaugural event will take place this July when a boys’ U18 team will compete in the elite division of the NAI 7s Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah.  “This will be a kickoff to entering national tournaments throughout the United States each year.  The first tournament will just be the U18 boys, but we will be adding girls and various age levels in the future tournaments.” said Stelluti.

It is Next Phase Rugby’s goal to provide players with opportunities to compete at a high level and connect with collegiate rugby coaches, with minimal financial burdens on players and families.  “We want every player to have the same opportunities to play high level rugby, so we want to keep the financial responsibility as low as possible,” added Stelluti.  The team members heading to the NAI 7s Tournament will only be financially responsible for getting to Utah.  Once the players arrive, the ground transportation, accommodations, kit, food, and tournament fees will be covered by Next Phase Rugby Academy.

In 2024, in addition to the Academy teams, Next Phase Rugby will be holding summer and winter 7s and 15s camps.  Held on various college campuses and using high-level facilities, the Camps will bring together top college coaches, experts in all different aspects of the game, and players who are eager to play the game at the next level.

Next Phase Rugby will also introduce its inaugural Next Phase Rugby 7s Tournament in the summer of 2024.  The two-day tournament will be for both boys and girls of various age levels.  Stelluti added, “Tropical 7s and NAI 7s provide exceptional, high-level experiences for high school and youth rugby players.  Next Phase Rugby would like to provide an additional option.”

“Everything we are looking to add has the same primary goal, to provide boys and girls playing high school rugby, additional opportunities to connect with collegiate rugby programs in the United States.    There is a place for every player, and we would like to do our part so players find the best place for them,” said Stelluti.

Players who are interested in being a part of the inaugural Next Phase Rugby Academy team heading to Utah in July should be on the lookout for details coming out in the next few days.
