Harvard, Dartmouth Remain Undefeated in NIRA

Harvard is now 1st in NIRA after hammering new NIRA D1 side Princeton 102-0.

It wasn't the scoreline either team wanted, to be sure, but this is Princeton's first foray into the NCAA varsity sphere and the they are doing so against seasoned, established teams. So it will be tough, but they will improve. Harvard is experienced and talented and wanted to show well on a day when the Harvard/Radcliffe women's rugby team celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Freshman Lennox London continues to show her skills translate nicely from high school to college, scoring three tries in a natural hat trick.

Dartmouth won their second game of the NIRA season, having started a week later. Paced by flanker Nyah Cordero, who was dynamic on attack, Dartmouth played good support rugby, defended with patience, and repeatedly turned the tables on the Bobcats.

"I'm very proud of our squad today," said Dartmouth Head Coach Katie Dowty. "We really played to our individual and collective strengths. Today we saw glimmers of our full potential this season and it left us very excited for the weeks ahead. We were especially pleased with the standard and energy our players played with off the bench."

Sophie Ragg scored two tries for Dartmouth.

With Army's game vs Brown being postponed, Harvard joins Army at 3-0, and the Crimson has more bonus points so is in 1st place. Harvard's points difference is also far and away larger than that of any other team.

Army takes on Dartmouth next week in Hanover. Harvard hosts Sacred Heart, who sit 1-1-1.
