Fall Men DI College Rankings Week 4

In Week 4 of the fall-only Men's DI college rankings, there's little change at the top, but lower down there's plenty of shifting.

(Note: Teams that play exclusively in the Spring - which, for our purposes, starts in January - are not ranked in the Fall.)

The Big Game of the weekend, #1 Army against #3 Penn State produced a game we expected and a result we expected, a close win for Army. Also near the top, #9 Navy beat #11 Air Force, and it was convincing enough to bump Navy up a spot over a less-than-dominant Kutztown team. Bigger things happened lower down. Lower-ranked Stony Brook beat higher-ranked Colgate. Unranked Colorado beat ranked Colorado State. Same goes for NEC over UMass and Cincinnati over Miami.

Now, obviously these unranked winners should be considered for ranking. For Cincinnati it was a little more complicated, since they had lost a close one to Ohio and a less close one to Daytona. We decide to hold off on Ohio, thanks to their tie with Louisville, but Daytona has to come in over Cincy. With all of this, we decided it was finally time to expand the rankings to 50. So teams that might have been pushed out instead just take a hit. Teams that have produced some good results so far but leave us unconvinced come in in the late 40s, including Harvard and Iona.
