15s Eagles Expected in Next 7s Camp

USA 7s Men’s Head Coach Mike Friday said he will likely invite a couple of regular 15s Eagles in the camp for the NACRA 7s in Cary, NC June 13-14.

One of them, Thretton Palamo, suited up for the USA team in London, although he saw limited action. Speaking in the next RuggaMatrix America podcast, Friday said that Palamo had a bit of a rude awakening when he stepped in to be part of the team in London in place of the injured Zack Test. The fitness requirements of the team, he said, were new to him. But Palamo did get to put an exclamation point on the weekend with a try in the final.

Wyles captained the USA team in 2008 and 2009, and actually played for Friday in the England development system about ten years ago. He has expressed an interest, said Friday, and the coach is expected to invite the Saracens star.

Both players, however, will go into the camp with the understanding that they might well not make the team. After all, the Eagles have just won a tournament.
