Indiana Big Win in Big Ten

Indiana took sole possession of 1st place in the Big Ten Universities Conference with a dramatic 19-17 win over Michigan Saturday.

Michigan, previously undefeated, falls to 3-1, while Indiana improves to 4-0.

In other action, Wisconsin moved to 3-1 thanks to a forfeit win over Nebraska. Ohio State defeated Purdue 38-12 to move to 3-1, and Iowa defeated Minnesota, putting both teams at 2-2.

"It was a really tough game," said Indiana club president Matt Saunders. "We were working really hard on our defense this week, so we were happy to keep them to a low score. We aren't used to such a low-scoring game, but we wanted to defend well and we did."

Saunders said that was all up to the Indiana forward.

Michigan Coach Brandon Sparks agreed, saying Indiana controlled the breakdown, especially on defense, and they scored when it mattered.

In fact, Indiana didn't lead until the end of the game. Michigan led 17-7 in the second have when Ben Dall scored to make it 17-14. Then, with time almost up,  Jake Hidalgo shrugged off some tacklers to ramble in for IU's first lead of the day, and the game-winner.
