GRR: National Teams
USA Women’s 7s Coach Julie McCoy takes a slightly changed and much improved Eagle squad to the Sao Paolo 7s next week.
After finishing 11th in Dubai, certainly the Eagles, who have harbored hopes of an Olympic medal, would expect to be better.
“I know how important it is that we finish better than 11th,” McCoy told Goff Rugby Report.
The USA MNT has been waiting for Saracens to notify them if Titi Lamositele to be made available, but injuries in the front row at that pro club has meant that the USA prop will remain in the UK, for now.
Lamositele could conceivably be available to play for the USA against Chile, but it depends on injuries at Saracens.
Player questions loom for the USA MNT going into the second Americas Rugby Championship game.
The Eagles’ 35-35 tie with an Argentina XV in a non-cap game in the Americas Rugby Championship was a game full of qualifiers.
It was an imperfect performance, to be sure, but considering the team had only had a week together under a new coaching staff, it could have been much worse.
The USA U20s are in camp now and it’s a hugely diverse group of players that interim Head Coach JD Stephenson has to mold into a cohesive unit.
What he has to help him is the experience of many of these players - some have been with the U20s before, and others have been on trips with the HS All Americans or Eagle Impact Rugby Academy.
