It has been a rocky journey getting this far for some teams in the Collegiate Women's DII Round of 16, but after this weekend, four teams will be one step closer to facing Davenport in the May 7th DII National Championship.
USA Rugby has updated their Women's DII College National Championship bracket.
This weekend sees the Round of 16 and quarterfinals in four separate locations, with UC Davis, UC Riverside, Mary Washington, and Atlanta hosting the four brackets.
Quinnipiac won the first Women's Varsity 7s Series tournament, defeating AIC 17-14 in the final.
The SIRC's seeding for the DII's Round of 16 will be determined by this weekend's set of playoff games between Georgia, Tennessee-Chattanooga, Tulane, and Kennesaw State.
Saturday, UGA has a scheduled bout with UTC while Tulane faces off against Kennesaw State. The winners will play Sunday for the conference championship.
Saturday, Pitt, Virginia Tech, UVa, UNC, and JMU will be fighting for the top three seeds in the Mason-Dixon playoffs in a format that is going to test two teams especially hard.
Pitt and Virginia Tech kick off a play-in game at 11AM, and after that difficult encounter, the winner will have only a couple of hours before facing Virginia.
