College Women
Life University looked dominant Friday and Saturday, winning all three pool games and scoring 107 to the opposition’s five points in the USA Rugby Women’s DI College 7s Championships.
Also going undefeated were Penn State and Lindenwood, but it was Life that seemed to explode onto the pitch at Wakemed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
Pool Play is done in the women’s DI college 7s championships.
Lindenwood held off Central Washington in the most dramatic game of the day, 7-5, thanks to a try under the posts. Penn State swept JMU and UC Davis to win Pool A at 2-0. Life crushed all before them.
Not a lot to report from the Women's DI college 7s nationals on Day One as a relatively small group of teams played just the one round of games.
The Women’s DII bracket in the USA Rugby College 7s Championships is the only tournament to start on Saturday, as everyone else starts on Friday. It makes sense, really, as these teams might be challenged in terms of depth and recovery, and as a result, one less day might help.
This is perhaps the most exciting women's DI college 7s field ever, with 11 teams, all of which - yes, every single one - have the ability to win it all.
There is not a single easy game in the tournament, and as such every game will need to be played to the utmost.
