Middle Tennessee State University exacted some revenge over Florida International Saturday, beating their SIRC rivals for a place in the national DIAA quarterfinals.
In a game very similar to our previous encounter, USC came from behind to snatch a Gold Coast Conference semifinal victory from Grand Canyon University, 17-12 Saturday.
BYU defeated Utah 49-12 Friday night to retain the Wasatch Cup.
College 7s heats up a little bit this weekend with several qualifiers, or pre-qualifiers going on.
The Empire 7s is the first of three tournaments to decide who makes it to the USA Rugby Nationals. Stony Brook hosts this weekend. The Southeastern 7s is for SEC schools, and the University of Alabama hosts the first of two, that lead to the seeding for the final.
St. Mary’s College is back from its’ tour of New Zealand and just in time to finish off the Gaels’ California Conference schedule.
Santa Clara (Saturday) and Cal Poly (April 9) remain, and Coach Johnny Everett, who accompanied the team to New Zealand, said the trip has re-energized the squad for the coming month of action.
