College Men
The ongoing story of the year in Men’s college rugby was obvious to me before I had my conversation with Wayne Milner, but that conversation certainly confirmed it.
Milner is the senior VP at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle, and we met last fall to initiate talks that led to the formation of the Rudy Scholz and MA Sorensen awards.
It's finally time for our Goff Rugby Report College Awards for the 2015-16 season; with a special wrinkle in that we already participate in an award, so we're going to fold that into our own.
Here are our awards for the Men:
The USA Rugby Men’s Collegiate All Americans will likely be named Thursday or possibly Friday - at least part of the list, anyway.
The DIA College meetings were held this weekend and the conferences decided to add several teams for the 2016-17 season.
Every conference was represented at the meetings in Colorado, and among the many issues discussed was the addition of college programs hoping to move up.
Among the additions:
Grand Canyon University has announced it has hired Lindenwood University backs and 7s coach Cameron Wyper as the men's rugby program's new backs and 7s coach.
Wyper brings considerable playing and coaching experience to a GCU team that will include over 35 players who played high school rugby in the U.S.
