Wheeling University held off a comeback from Iowa Central CC to win the NCR bowl game between the two teams at Aveva Stadium in Houston Saturday.
Wheeling's pace and explosiveness saw them through, while Iowa Central will be ruiing a couple of errors and a couple of missed tackles, as the Cardinals emerged 29-24 winners over the Tritons.
Thomas More is in the Men’s D2 college final after beating Northern Iowa 73-20 in Friday’s semifinal at Aveva Stadium in Houston.
It was a game that Thomas More took control of early.
“The guys played the game plan and it was about communication more than anything else,” said Thomas More Head Coach John Fox. “Talk, work together, be in support.”
It was a wild night in Houston for the NCR small-college semis with both winners having to battle their way through.
For Christendom it was all about the comeback. With a stiff breeze blowing straight down the field. Holy Cross started the game with the wind at their backs and they used it smartly. Christendom, for their part, didn't.
Siena and Wayne State will meet in the final of the NCR small-college challenge cup after both won big on Friday.
