The top two teams in the Liberty Conference faced off Saturday with defending NCR D1 champs Brown at 3-0 Dartmouth.
The game was considered the major battle for 1st in the conference and it was exactly that.
It was a battle and Dartmouth brought a very potent attack to the game, but Brown came back to win it and also take the Ivy League title.
Notre Dame secured the #1 spot in the Big 10 East with a 34-15 defeat of Ohio State Saturday.
Several Big 10 teams were in action in games that didn't factor into the standings. Michigan impressed with a 55-25 defeat of Illinois in an East-vs-West game. Michigan State lost to McKendree 36-5, while Indiana is at UCLA.
It was a bizarre Friday night in the ARC as both games on the conference slate ended up tied.
Queens and Wheeling played to a 36-36 tie. Flyhalf and Iowa Central transfer Taku Misingqini slotted a long-range penalty with no time left to secure the deadlock fo the Cardinals.
In a meeting of two Top 3-ranked D1A teams, Navy defeated Life 29-21 in a well-played match in Annapolis.
Navy had come in with a well-deserved reputation for finishing strong and pulling away from opponents late in the match. That didn't happen this time.
It's a busy weekend and we see some competitions really wake up.
BYU is at Colorado and that should be an interesting start for the Cougars, playing at a solid Rams side. Life is at Navy and that's a major playoff preview.
