How 2016-17 Looks for DIAA Conferences
Some changes and one major realignment mark the 2016-17 season for DIAA Men's College rugby - here's a look at the conferences and what changes we're expecting.
Lindenwood Belleville Bounces Back to Make DII Semis
Lindenwood-Belleville’s run to a national DII 7s title started ignominiously, as the Lunx tried virtually everything they could do to throw away the opener against UMass-Lowell.
In fact, they even tried throwing it away, opting to toss the ball into touch to end the game - you are not allowed to do that - leading to a penalty that led to Lowell’s game-tying try.
Lindenwood-Belleville Hosts DII 7s Qualifier
Lindenwood-Belleville hosts a 7s tournament this weekend, and it’s yet another first for a program that didn’t exist a year ago.
L-B made the national DII 15s playoffs, and now is looking at a berth at USA Rugby’s 7s DII nationals. They have an excellent shot, as Head Coach Pat Clifton has worked hard to get his Lynx game time, going to Florida, Tennessee, and Las Vegas to find it.
Mines, L-B to Next Round
The Colorado School of Mines is in to the national Round of 16 after beating Winona State out of the Northern Lights Conference 54-22.
This is the latest impressive result from the Orediggers, which moved back up to DII from the Small College competition this year, and ran the table in the Rocky Mountain Conference.
