MAC Wraps Season, Confirms Semifinalists
The MAC top four are decided after this week's results.
IUPUI needed a Cincinnati loss (which they got) and an IUPUI win (they lost 31-24 to Louisville) to make the semis, and just missed. Bonus points almost, but not quite, mixed up the standings. WMU's penchant for scoring tries even if they lose, and IUPUI's two close losses almost got them up a spot.
Two Huge, Close Games in MAC Make for Exciting Late Fall
In another example of how competitive it is in the Mid American Conference, GRR #11 Louisville beat GRR #12 Western Michigan 36-30 in a back-and-forth encounter.
Louisville trailed in the second half before a yellow card for a high tackle put WMU down a player, and the Cardinals punished the Broncos with two converted tries to help turn the game around.
MAC Collision This Week
The clash of teams who are kicking themselves happens in the MAC as Western Michigan plays Louisville.
Both teams feel like they had hit upon the right way to beat league-leaders Bowling Green. Neither was able to sustain that though for 80 minutes.
Bowling Greem, WMU, IUPUI Win in MAC
Bowling Green moved to 3-0 in the MAC with a convincing 73-5 win over Dayton University.
Western Michigan, after losing last week to BGSU, bounced back with a 65-33 defeat of Ohio. The broncos were led by No. 8 and captain Will McNamara, and outside backs Luke Sutherland and Garen Leland.
Louisville Edges IUPUI
The University of Louisville played its first competitive game of the season, and the first in over 400 days, this weekend and came away with a victory over IUPUI.
Fielding 10 freshmen, Louisville overcame some first-game jitters and emerged 26-23 victors.
