GRR: College Men
So we finally finish up our D1A rankings.
We don't have a lot of changes—an obvious one at the top, but not much more.
Not that we didn't think about it. There's just so much parity in the division right now that you could argue a ranking of almost any combination. Navy beat Cal, remember.
The winner of Rudy Scholz Award, given each year to the top men's college rugby player in the country, has been decided and it's Oscar Treacy from Central Washington University.
Xavier University based in Cincinnati, Ohio is searching for a new Head Coach of their men's rugby program.
With the stepping down of nine-year Head Coach Quinn Dutton, the Musketeers is looking for a coach for their robust D3 program.
Xavier has already invested in a Premium Membership in Next Phase Rugby, and that has helped them build their roster to 34 players.
This entire winter and spring we ranked St. Thomas at #2 and San Diego at #1, until this final week.
We almost had that ranking this week, too, save for an astonishing final play of the CRAA D1AA final. So we move St. Thomas to #1 and San Diego to #2.
A Thriller in CRAA D1AA Final
CRAA wrapped up their D1AA season with a weekend of games and in the end one of the most dramatic games of the season, if not the most dramatic.
St. Thomas played relatively well, but perhaps struggled with the physicality and tenacity of the Sam Houston State defense to get through Friday's semifinal 27-15.
