GRR: College Men
It's going to be an action-packed spring semester for Clemson Rugby as they look to compete for cups in both 7s and and 15s.
After a 7s tournament warmup last weekend, and a win over South Carolina earlier, the Tigers will be playing both 7s and 15s this weekend.
The South Independent Rugby Conference’s North Division probably comes down to this weekend.
At least, who will be 1st in the division comes down to this weekend, as Middle Tennessee State hosts Kennesaw State. MTSU is 6-0, while KSU is 4-1. If MTSU loses, they aren’t really out of the picture for 1st, but if they win, then it’s pretty much game over.
One of the interesting surprises in Men's DIAA college rugby is that there's an impression held by some in the East that most of the season is played in the fall.
That's not exactly the case, given that the Gold Coast, Pacific West, NCRC, and Mountain States all start in the winter, and the Heart of America and Ivy League (playoffs, anyway) finish off in the spring.
The University of San Diego defeated Azusa Pacific 28-7 Saturday in the only game in the Gold Coast.
USD is now 1-1, and Azusa Pacific 0-2. Players in wet, muddy conditions, both teams had trouble holding onto the ball at times, and footing was unpredictable.
The University of Mary Washington rugby program and the Austin Huns rugby club will officially announce tomorrow a partnership.
