GRR: College Men

02.18.2020 - Alex Goff

Is no one going to take the mantel? Is no one going to challenge the top group?

We need someone to ... we don't know, win a game?

OK, that's a bit unfair. The Pac West took the week off, and if Fresno State had logged another impressive result, then the Bulldogs might have been that team.

But ... Long Beach State lost. Western Washington lost. Forida was half-idle.

Well this past weekend churned up the NCRC, even as the playoff berths were clinched.

Western Washington went into the weekend at 4-1 and in position to clinch 1st in the NCRC North, but instead lost to Oregon 18-12.

That was on the heels of a strangely close 17-15 loss to the University of Washington.

The University of Denver shut out Mira Costa College 21-0 in the final of the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) open 7s qualifier in Las Vegas last weekend.

The tournament itself was quite competitive and a hgh percentage of the games were very close. Neither Denver nor Mira Costa won their pool.
