The pools and schedule have been released for the London 7s (Friday-Saturday, May 15-16), the fifth stop on the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series. The USA enter the competition tied for 5th in the standings, but only 12 points separate #2 Canada and #7 Russia, and there are two more tournaments to play.

The game didn't start in the USA's favor. Two minutes into the Women's Rugby World Cup 5th place semifinal, Australia captain Shannon Parry dotted down a try that Ashleigh Hewson converted. But the Americans were resolute and used every remaining second to claw their way back on top, and the go-ahead points happened in the 79th minute.

The USA is being praised for the pressure levied against New Zealand during the final pool stage of the Women's Rugby World Cup, but so many scoring opportunities were left on the field in the 34-3 loss.

Even after the team’s impressive 47-7 victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday, the gravity of game three was already making its presence known.
