College 7s took the attention of many during May, with the continued shifts and changes in schedules meaning that while a group of college teams were in the last throes of the 15s playoffs, most were thinking about 7s glory.
Last year’s women’s DI fall final was a study in frustration.
It wasn’t that observers like this writer wanted any one specific team to win or lose; we just wanted to see a good game. We didn’t. Errors and fumbles were the feature of a game where UConn, making the fewer of the errors, prevailed.
Quinnipiac exacted revenge for an earlier loss, and, more importantly, won the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) championship Sunday with a 46-24 defeat of Central Washington.

Lindenwood held off Central Washington in the most dramatic game of the day, 7-5, thanks to a try under the posts. Penn State swept JMU and UC Davis to win Pool A at 2-0. Life crushed all before them.
