Wheeling Jesuit University has signed the first rugby player from a deaf school, as Model School for the Deaf standout Marcus Pointer will join WJU in the fall.

Pointer is an athletic, mobile front-rower who was spotted at the Washington, DC school when current WJU assistant Tal Bayer was coaching at DC-area Perry Street Prep.

On October 18, 2014 Wheeling Jesuit visited Davenport University and came away 39-10 poorer in a non-league game.

Now, exactly six months later, we’ve got the same matchup at the same field, only this time it’s a DIA quarterfinal playoff game.

Wheeling Jesuit continued to make their late charge for a DIA playoff spot with yet another impressive victory.

This time, it was Ohio State who were on the receiving end to the tune of 48-10. In a tough, physical game where both teams heard the referee's whistle a lot, WJU showed their imporoement, countering Ohio State's forward-first game with some snappy ball movement.

Wheeling Jesuit defeated West Virginia 75-18 Saturday in a non-conference game.

Former USA U20 player and collegiate All American Peter Malcolm scored four tries in the game and Inosi Kau scored two in a game that saw nine players touch down.

The game was held after the Gonzaga HS v Royal Irish high school clash. That game led into this battle of West Virginia.
