GRR: Walsh University
Those of you who follow Goff Rugby Report know that we love close games, and we love a conference with frequent close games.
Walsh University hosted University of Notre Dame Friday night in North Canton, OH and the Cavaliers opened their season with a well-taken victory over the Fighting Irish.
The scoreline, 38-17, doesn’t quite tell the story, as Notre Dame tested Walsh repeatedly.
Two play-in spots are decided in NCR's D1 after Saturday's games.
Both of the Rugby East teams in action Saturday won. St. Bonaventure beat Dartmouth and Walsh beat Indiana. Kutztown plays Wheeling on Sunday.
Navy continued their winning ways with a 40-11 defeat of Walsh University Saturday in Rugby East action.
As has been their script throughout the fall, Navy absorbed some pressure and battled through some difficult times before opening up the spigot in the final quarter. The game overall was much closer than the final score suggests.
Walsh University logged the program’s first ever conference win Friday night, beating Belmont Abbey 25-10 on a rainy night in North Canton, Ohio.
The game was a lot closer than the score indicates. Belmont caused Walsh all sorts of trouble in the breakdowns and threatened constantly to overhaul the Cavaliers.
