GRR: Utah Youth Rugby
Some Boys HS results of note around the nation.
The big one, of course, was Okapi over Woodlands. In a very tight game neither team scored until the 20th minute. For both teams, this was something of a shocker. Woodlands generally scored at least 40 in every game and they often score early. For Okapi to hold them scoreless until the 26th minute was surprising.
East HS upset Herriman 29-27 Saturday in Utah Youth Rugby's school league.
It was a good showing from East, who hit Herriman hard and fast and who also kept out of the penalty trouble that has sometimes plagued them.
In the last two weeks East HS in Utah has beaten the defending state D2 champs (Brighton, now in D1), and the defending state single-school champs (Highland).
Herriman defeated Olympus 33-19 in a tense, competitive early-season matchup in Utah.
Utah Youth Rugby’s fall 7s championships produced a big surprise in the girls bracket.
Wasatch/Provo, which had struggled to find victories over Majestics and United in the early going this fall, ended up beating those opponents in the state final tournament to win it all.
