GRR: USA Women 7s

irish rugby tours

01.25.2025 - Alex Goff

It was a rough Day Two for the USA teams in Perth.

The USA women lost twice, once to a very much in-form Canada to wrap up pool play 21-7, and then 19-7 to France.

As we have written before, France has often been the USA's toughest opponent.

01.24.2025 - Alex Goff

It was a good day for both USA teams in Perth.

The USA women won both of their games, and the USA men were almost as good in two nailbiters.

Overtime, last-minute tries, and hanging tough. In the end, it’s winning games that matters, but win or lose the USA men’s team showed some improvement.

The USA women's 7s team has been picked to play in Perth, Australia and there are a few changes.

The USA Women's 7s team's young players made big strides in Cape Town, beating Fiji, Great Britain, and, most notably, Australia to make the final.

Round 2 for the USA women is about momentum.

The entire program, of course, has momentum, and not just because Ilona Maher did so well on Dancing with the Stars. Maher, of course, along with her Bronze-Medal-Winning teammates have sparked a renewed interest in the game among young women, and while that measurement is anecdotal, it’s consistent and we’re inclined to believe it.
