GRR: USA Women 7s
The USA women capped off the Perth SVNS with their second-straight fourth-place finish.
It was an interesting tournament in which the Eagles put in a ton of effort and worked hard to win the collision battle. They fixed their poor passing mid-tournament, which is difficult to do.
Well, the HSBC SNVS series is weird.
The USA women looked very shaky through pool play finishing off with a loss to New Zealand in which their passing left a lot to be desired, and even when they were close to scoring, they’d see the Black Ferns steal the ball and run the length of the field.
The USA women finished up their opening round of games at the Perth 7s with a loss and a win, but are probably in a good position to make the quarterfinals.
The Perth stop for the SVNS World Series will kick off on Australia day on the shores of the Indian Ocean and the USA teams will have their work cut out for them.
Refreshed and refocused following the holiday break, the USA Women’s Sevens squad are back in action as they head to Perth SVNS, the next stop on the 2024 HSBC SVNS. Competition kicks off Friday, January 26. All action will be available on RugbyPass TV, with semifinals and finals also live on Peacock. Fans can follow all match results and stats at svns.com and the HSBC SVNS app.
