GRR: St. Bonaventure
Rick Rose of St. Bonaventure is the #1 pick in the 2023 Major League Rugby draft, getting the nod from expansion club Miami.
Rose was the captain of St. Bonaventure, leading them to a NCR D1 title in the fall of 2021. The 6-7 lock is a powerful forward on defense, wins lineouts, is an excellent leader, and someone who puts in a ton of work around the park.
Thomas More put Fairfield to the sword 70-21 to move on to the NCR D1 semifinals Saturday, jumping to the top four a year after winning the D2 playoffs.
Also into the NCR D1 semifinals are Queens University Charlotte, Brown, and defending champions St. Bonaventure.
The Rugby East is going down to the wire, just like everyone wanted.
With Navy's win over Army, there is still a chance for St. Bonaventure to sit atop the heap. It's a little complicated, but here's how it goes:
There's still plenty to play for in the Rugby East, not least because of the CRAA/NCR split.
Navy remains undefeated and takes over 1st place in the Rugby East after the Midshipmen defeated Kutztown 46-16 Saturday.
With Army playing a non-conference game (a 53-8 defeat of Air Force), Navy got a chance to vault to 7-0, with West Point at 6-0.
