Salisbury University scored in the waning minutes to overtake longtime rivals Towson and win the Potomac Men’s DII College Conference championship game 24-22 Saturday.
The Potomac DII Men’s College league has in recent years been one led by Salisbury University and Towson University, so it was of interest this past weekend that two other teams - undefeated teams - faced off against those longtime powers.
Salisbury University’s 29-17 defeat of UMBC was not what you’d expect.
The Sharks won one of the two national championships held last year, and are always near the top of the DII College heap. A winning margin of 12 points seems a bit small.
