GRR: Rugby Washington
Well it’s been one weekend in the Rugby Washington boys HS league and already it’s a confusion.
Defending champions Seattle lost 24-22 to Kent, while Eastside, who started the season with solid aspirations, found themselves on the losing end against the always-athletic Liberty.
The Washington state Loggers boys high school rep-side announced its 2015 7s player pool selections, following trials in Seattle.
Twenty-three players were named, from over 40 players nominated by coaches from across the state.
The Kent Girls team won the RugbyWa Summer 7s Series as part of the Washington State Summer Games sponsored by Subway.
In an impressive team performance Kent beat Rainier in the final of the third tournament of the series, running away with the maximum of 88 points from the four events. Rainier finished 2nd, just ahead of Shelton, with Prairie taking 4th.
Held during the senior Club 7s Championships, the Serevi Cup is a two-bracket high school 7s tournament hosted at the Starfire Sports Complex, where the club nationals will also be held.
The Seattle Vikings once again won in Subway Washington Summer Games rugby 7s series, beating Liberty 50-7 in the final of the Boys U19 bracket, and shutting out Rainier 50-0 in the final of the U17s.
Seattle leads both the 19 boys and U17 boys series.
