GRR: Rugby Texas
Jesuit HS of Dallas hosts the Dallas Jesuit Showdown this weekend, with four teams facing off in the Varsity level, and four more in JV.
All games will be played at Postell Stadium at Jesuit HS.
Jesuit Dallas faces off with Jesuit New Orleans in the first game. Katy HS plays Christian Brothers out of Memphis. Those teams will play a round robin through the weekend.
When Goff Rugby Report profiles Bronson Teles back in September, the reason was that he was not only a talented player, but a leader, and a smart young man - and it seemed you agree.
In our first Fans Poll of the Player of the Month, fans voted the Katy Barbarians flanker/lock for the honor. So Bronson Teles is our Fan’s Player of the Month for February.
Dallas Jesuit made the long trip down I-45 to Houston to play a friendly in the Bishops Cup against St. Thomas, and in a very physical clash, it was the Dallas team that came out on top, 21-17.
St. Thomas was missing four starters, but battled hard nonetheless, while Jesuit was resilient, patient, and disciplined in their approach.
The upper echelon of Rugby Texas just got a whole lot more intriguing after Thursday night’s meeting between Westlake and Lake Travis.
Westlake is now 2-0 in Rugby Texas after beating Strake Jesuit 37-15 Saturday.
Other winners in Texas include Katy, which defeated St. Pius X 38-13, Lake Travis, which beat Plano 83-3, and St. Thomas, which defeated Strake Jesuit 37-5. Kingwood shut out Lamar 22-0, while Rock Rugby looked impressive in a 78-15 defeat of Four Points.
