Kutztown University held off a furious late charge from Penn State to win a big Rugby East clash 36-28. Kutztown ran out to a 17-7 first-half lead, using the wind effectively. Meanwhile, Penn State was adjusting to a few personnel changes.

Paced by three tries from Chris Burian Penn State defeated the University at Buffalo 57-17 in Rugby East play. Penn State improved to 2-1 and gained a little on first-place Kutztown, which had no league game this weekend. For Buffalo, it’s now an 0-3 record but Coach Mike Hodgins said he was looking for his team to fix mistakes as they went through the season.

The top dogs howled a little louder Saturday in the Rugby East as Kutztown and Penn State won big. Kutztown defeated Iona 72-0. “There’s nothing to say except two completely different calibers of team,” said Iona Head Coach Bruce McLane. Kutztown club president Niku Kruger said his team was feeling confident going into the game
