SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif - University of California Los Angeles beat University of California Berkeley (Cal) in a tight final to win the West Coast 7s Saturday at the Cal Poly Sports Complex.
"Looking at day overall, we did a lot of the things we wanted to get done," said captain Jake Anderson. "It was a decent opening to the season."
The second annual Palouse 7s kicks off Saturday at Washington State University in this the third week of college 7s tournaments in the Pacific Northwest.
San Luis Obispo hosts the West Coast 7s this weekend, with several of the top college programs from the West Coast set to face off.
Among the intriguing entries are St. Mary’s, getting the #1 seed, San Diego State, which won the Cal State 7s in Sacramento, two-time defending CRC winners Cal, and new varsity program Grand Canyon.
In the second of two college 7s tournaments playing in the Pacific Northwest this weekend, Boise State hosts nine teams in two pools.
The University of Utah is the highest-profile program in this tournament, and the Utes will bring three squads to the event.
