GRR: MARC
It will be Rowan University against IUP in the MARC Conference final Sunday after both won semifinals Saturday.
IUP defeated York in one semi, while Rowan beat Drexel by a surprisingly close score of 25-11.
“I think we started slowly,” said Rowan co-captain JC Carr. “We tried to do a little too much; we weren’t patient.”
The MARC Conference semifinals are set after a dramatic weekend of games.
Rowan College may still be undefeated in the MARC Conference South, but it was a rough test for them last week.
The team was late to the venue, shortening their warmup, and missing a couple of players because of injury, and as a result saw York run out to an early lead.
Earlier than expected, the Mid-Atlantic (MARC) final four has been confirmed. Kutztown will play East Stroudsburg, and Bloomsburg will play Delaware in the semifinals. MARC will receive three representatives at the national fall Round of 32 (Nov. 14-15).
There is new reason for the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC) to get excited about playoffs. The previous two years, the MARC championship coincided with the national fall Round of 32, so the conference received two seeds directly to the Round of 16.
