GRR: HS Rankings
With our first major inter-regional game we get some more major movement.
With Cathedral Catholic (SoCal) beating #2 Jesuit Sacramento (NorCal), and Cathedral lost a close one to Torrey Pines, so we move both Cathedral and Torrey Pines up.
But remember, there will be some more SoCal-vs-NorCal games to help us out.
We do not have a lot of changes in the HS club scene, but we do have a few.
If your team dropped out, remember that the main reason is because you will have games coming up to move yourself up. Right now teams that moved in—Red Mountain, Greer, Cape Fear, and Tampa—did so because of results.
Big moves here in Week 3 of our school-team Top 50 and we caution you about that.
Because there are not a lot of games out there a team can move up or down quickly. Fallbrook leaping into the rankings wouldn't necessarily happen if a lot more of the teams around that ranking of 20-40 were playing. So we'll keep an eye on Fallbrook and Mira Costa and teams like that.
We base a lot of our movement, almost all of it, in fact, on the results from the Storer Classic.
Now, this is a dangerous thing to do because this was a preseason tournament with a series of shortened games. So it's important to remember that you can't hang a ranking on one or two short-game results.
Week 2 and there hasn't been a lot of action, but we have seen some movement.
A couple of errors in our earlier rankings (we moved the wrong team) got fixed, and Mira Costa comes in after a couple of good results.
