The University of Colorado defeated Grand Canyon in the opening game for GCU.

It's a bit of slow burn for the 'Lopes as they look at an independent D1A season this year, and getting 31 points on the board shows they have some attacking ability.

"Exciting game," said GCU Head Coach Sean O'Leary. "But too many mistakes from both sides. This is turning into a good rivalry."

Beware a good college rugby team that hasn't been able to play; really beware an excellent rugby team that hasn't played in a while.

Cal visited the state of Arizona this weekend and defeated University of Arizona 94-10 and two days late dismissed Grand Canyon University 84-0.

UC Santa Barbara logged their first California Conference game since landing new Head Coach Neil Foote, and came away with a 36-12 win over UC Davis.

UCSB has already played, losing to Cal, and then last week's game against San Diego State was called off. Foote was pleased to see what his team has learned since that Cal game.

Grand Canyon and University of Arizona tied 28-28 Saturday evening in a game that did much to help build the rivalry between the two Arizona colleges.

The game was pretty dramatic to start with, but was almost more so as Ethan Van Tonder's 48-meter penalty kick drifted wide as time wound down.

Grand Canyon defeated Utah Valley 43-5 to open up the 2022 campaign for both teams.

This was a relatively late addition to the schedule as UVU was looking for a winter game and GCU was able to fit the Wolverines in.

"We're so grateful to Coach Orlando [Tupou] and UVU for traveling down," said Grand Canyon Head Coach Sean O'Leary.
