D1A Rankings for 2025-26 Week 18
We didn't update the rankings last week because we only had one major, full-length game to judge from.
We have more this time and we do have some changes around #24 and #25.
Saint Mary's inches up after their win over Arizona, while we had some decisions to make around the BYU-vs-GCU game.
Statements Made in California Conference
While it's clear that Saint Mary's is the big dog in the California Conference, there's a chase to see who can challenge the Gaels, and, furthermore, a chase to see who can emerge from the pack.
This weekend, with Saint Mary's on tour in New Zealand, there were plenty of opportunities for statements.
Grand Canyon Pushes BYU to the Edge
In what was a surprisingly close match, BYU scored at the end of the game to edge Grand Canyon 29-26 Saturday in Phoenix.
This was a much improved showing for GCU and they were in position to win the game.
Cross-Border and Cross-Divisional Action on West Coast
Let's take a look at what happened in men's college rugby on the West Coast.
It was a holiday weekend, and several teams had the weekend off. But not all.
Cal came out of the Storer Classic with victories, including a 43-0 win over UCLA which is really just a precursor to their full-length tilt later in the season.
Explosive First Half Sees Saint Mary's Past Wildcats
In a much-anticipated matchup that didn't deliver the drama fans had hoped for, Saint Mary's defeated Arizona 68-15 Saturday in Moraga, Calif.
What Saint Mary's has is a group of players who play wide-open rugby with confidence and daring. They combine that with a group of leaders who keep everyone calm. The result is a quick and lethal early strike and tries.
