Washington State will take the second North seed to the Pacific Mountain Conference championship (March 28-29), and Saturday’s game against Central Washington proved that the Cougars deserve it. Even though the Wildcats prevailed 31-19, WSU rounded out its regular season with a playoff-worthy performance.

Central Washington was one of the big stories from the latter half of 2014, but the Wildcats’ legacy is only beginning. Leading the Pacific Mountain Conference’s North division with a 4-0 record thus far, CWU has bettered its probability of success by adding five recruits for the spring semester.

Well that settles that. If there was any question as to whether Central Washington is the strongest DI women’s college in the Pacific Northwest, then it was answered last weekend. Washington State, the reigning Pacific Mountain North champion, traveled to Ellensburg for the teams’ first official meeting and returned to Pullman with a 41-5 loss.

It appears that Mel Denham is working her magic, again. The new head coach took Central Washington to Pullman, Wash., this weekend for the Wildcats’ first run-out of the season. Although a pre-season friendly, CWU impressed in its 41-8 win over Washington State, the region’s top DI team.
