GRR: Central Washington University
Two intriguing non-conference D1A games are on the slate for this weekend, with Grand Canyon at Cal and Central Washington at UCLA.
Cal, Grand Canyon, Saint Mary's, and Central Washington all logged impressive victories over the weekend.
Life University came back to edge Central Washington in Women's D1 Elite action Saturday.
Playing on Senior Day, the Wildcats took a 10-7 lead into halftime thanks to tries by Maleena Mero and Malia Ili.
Life's Brooklyn Vaifanua collected a Life chip kick and raced in to open the scoring before CWU came back to lead at the break.
The seeding for this fall's D1 Elite will be based on the regular season and we have a better idea of where everything will shake out.
Not every one of the four teams will play the other three. Penn State doesn't play Lindenwood but have already played the other two; meanwhile Lindenwood, Life, and Central Washington all do play each other and Lindenwood plays Life twice.
Central Washington followed up on Thursday's 63-12 defeat of Penn State, with a convincing victory over the US Naval Academy 69-8 on Saturday.
“Central Washington has a really strong squad and they played like it today,” said Navy Head Coach Murph McCarthy. “We’re glad they came out from Washington to play us today but we have work to do.”
