GRR: Belmont Shore
Rebel Rugby Academy, Eagle Impact Rugby Academy, Next Phase Rugby, and Belmont Shore all went 3-0 in pool play in today's NAI 7s Boys U18 Elite action.
Two of the HS Club National Championship Games on Day 1 were all-time classics.
The other two were excellent example of how to stifle an attack and get through the day. Friday now sees Belmont Shore vs The Woodlands in one semi, and Charlotte Cardinals vs San Diego Mustangs in the other.
Just about everyone not wearing a Belmont Shore jersey was shocked Saturday to see the Long Beach club defeat the Majestics 34-15 to win the Girls HS Club National Championship.
We have our national Girls HS Club finalists after Day One of action at Girls Nationals at the Wisconsin Rugby Complex in Cottage Grove, Wisc.
Majestics were outstanding in their two games. They had too much athleticism and speed of play for Aspetuck, and while the Connecticut team defended and played hard, Majestics was too quick and won 27-7.
Somehow Belmont Shore did it.
Really, it wasn’t as if Shore was playing poorly, but after a loss to the touring Woodlands side from Texas and then in the regular season to the San Diego Mustangs, as well as a very nervy and close semifinal to the SOC Raptors, they were not favorites to win the SoCal Boys HS Club final this past weekend.
