There's a lot going on in Lucca Deocariza's life and rugby is just part of it.
Welcome to our first Player of the Month award. We asked for nominations for a Player of the Month from our readers, making it plain that we were looking for high school student-athletes, boys or girls, who were accomplished on and off the field.
The last two weeks have been pretty busy, and we have a lot of players to recognize all over the nation.
Ian Murra, Cedar FallsIn the Iowa Boys 7s league, Murra leads the entire state with 11 tries in seven matches played.
The finalists for the 2021-22 Rudy Scholz Award have been named.
The four players, who coincidentally will all be in action this coming weekend in the DIA semifinals, were selected from the previous list of 16 nominees based on votes from college rugby teams, as well as fans, from around the country. The opinions of college rugby coaches and experts weight heavily in this vote.
Over the last two weeks we've seen some special performances in tournaments and key games in both leagues and in non-conference games.
