Andrew Suniula, Center
Well we don't have much in the way of images for Andrew Suniula, as he got injured early in the June series. So here's a look at him against Uruguay in March (Dennis D. Hawk photo) and working through a little attention from the Georgian defense in November (photo courtesy of US Consulate, Tbilisi, Georgia). Suniula has played extremely well in the last 18 months or so. He has ramped up his physicality and seems faster, also. Being in a full-time training environment has helped him, of course, but there's something to be said for knowing your role and embracing it. The Eagles, like any rugby team, have to make a decision on the #12 jersey - do you want your guy to bash through the line, drawing in defenders, and creating space? Do you want your guy to act as a seocnd flyhalf, using the pass to put players away? Do you want your guy to get through the line through shifty running?
There are players capable of any of these in the USA camp, but Suniula is best as the first type, and has embraced it. Unfortunately Suniula is not back with Wasps this coming season. It's hard to imagine a pro team who can't use him. Hopefully he gets healthy and finds a team.
