Four Brackets at Winona State's Fool's Fest

Hosts Winona State look to make a move in their own tournament.

Winona State in Minnesota is hosting the Fool's Fest tournament, a four-bracket college 7s tournament, this weekend, with two being national qualifiers.

The tournament will be held in Rochester, Minn.

The Men's DII bracket is a qualifier for the USA Rugby College 7s Nationals. Minnesota-Duluth and Northern Iowa both promise to bring strong teams to the eight-team competition. But watch out for the hosts, Winona State, who showed some open-field talent in the fall 15s season.

DII Qualifier Teams: Minnesota-Duluth, UW-Platteville, UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire, Mankato, Winona, St. Thomas, University of Northern Iowa.

The is also a National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) bracket for men, with South Dakota State, UW-Platteville Bs, UW-Eau Claire Bs, Winona State Bs, and Simpson College in competition.

The women's bracket is an open bracket with Winona, UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, and Mankato slated to compete.

That bracket is not a qualifier, but the Women's NSCRO is, with UW-Platteville, St. Olaf, College of Saint Benedict, Simpson, Macalester, and Carleton. The winner will go to the NSCRO National 7s Championships April 29-May 1 at the Rugby Athletic Center in Charlotte, NC.
