West Coast Teams Set for Round 2 in Stanford

West Coast Teams Set for Round 2 in Stanford

The second leg of the West Coast 7s will kick off this weekend at Stanford University with 23 teams playing in four brackets.

While the WC 7s hangs its hat on its men's collegiate competition, all four competitions have robust attendance.

The Men's College bracket welcomes Cal, which won the 1st leg of the series in LA, and the Bears are in a pool with San Diego and Oregon.

Pool B sees a young but dangerous UCLA side, along with Grand Canyon, Stanford, and Cal's 2nds.

That Pool B will be a real question-mark.

With the women's bracket, six teams will play a round-robin. This includes the two CRAA D1 15s finalists in Stanford (who have won that trophy the last two seasons) and Cal. Cal Poly, Cal Maritime, and Sacramento State.

The high school competitions are rounding out nicely. The Girls HS competition has two pools of three, headed up by the San Mateo Wolverines and Bishop O'Dowd.

West Coast Sevens A Launching Pad for More?

Five teams play in the Round-Robin for the Boys HS, with the winners from last time, Cathedral Catholic out of Southern California, facing a robust Northern California contingent including the San Mateo Wolverines, St. Ignatius San Francisco, Carmichael Hawks, and Mother Lode.

So with those brackets, every game is going to mean something for the teams involved.
