MAC Latest: BG, Pitt Win

MAC Latest: BG, Pitt Win

Pitt starts 1-0.

Pitt, Bowling Green, and Louisville all started the MAC season 1-0 after victories this weekend.

Louisville unfortunately got their win thanks to a forfeit by Dayton, which isn't the way anyone wants to take a win, or a loss for that matter.

Bowling Green defeated Cincinnati 26-10 to open their conference account.

"They are a very tough team and have become a thorn in our side over the last few years," said BGSU Head Coach Tony Mazzarrella. "We deifnitely need to address some penalty issues that have crept in over the last couple of weeks."

This coming weekend, Bowling Green hosts Ohio State in a non-conference game.

For Pitt, their 39-26 win over Ohio was a big day.

Head Coach Eric Jerpe said he got a good overall team effort.

"We stuck to the game plan, allowing for our wings to run," Jerpe told GRR,

Wings John Ivory and Ben Williams accounted for three of Pitt's tries.

"For the most part they played well as a team with strong, hard running," said Jerrpe. "And our defense was good. But there is room for improvements as always."

Pitt is at Western Michigan this coming weekend. WMU beat Purdue 19-5 in a non-conference game Saturday. Louisville will visit Ohio, while Cincinnati is slated to take on Dayton in Dayton.
