Staples defeated Greenwich 29-7 to win the Rugby Connecticut Boys D1 HS championship.
Paced by an outstanding game from center Kody Goldman Staples capped off what started pff as a it of an up-and-down season with a run of impressive performances in May.
In the last weeks of the season Staples beat Ridgefield, Simbury, Trumbull in the semifinals, and Greenwich in the final by an average score of 44-8.
Overall, Staples ended the season 8-2, with only an earlier loss to Greenwich and a close loss to Georgetown Prep at the beginning of May.
