Gamebreakers DIA College: February 2022

And we're back with our Gamebreakers.

This list is some of the top performers from January and February in DIA rugby.

Dylan Parry, BYU

The BYU scrumhalf has been tireless in running the Cougar attack as they pushed Saint Mary’s and beat Central Washington.

Alex Domine, Cal Poly

Domine controlled the scoresheet in February as the fullback scored 19 against Grand Canyon and 22 against Santa Clara. He also scored all of his team’s six points against Saint Mary’s.

Inoke Waqavesi, Saint Mary’s

The Gaels center has emerged as a playmaker and sort of a second five-eighth rather than a bruising inside center. His ability to find space and create within the Saint Mary’s attack framework led the Gaels to wins over BYU and UCLA.

Marnus Spangenberg, Lindenwood

An immense work rate and devotion to the unglamorous work in defense and in the breakdown helped the Lindenwood lock and captain lead his side to wins over Life and Arkansas State.

Orrin Bizer, Life University

The Running Eagles beat Arkansas State and lost a close one to Lindenwood, and No. 8 Bizer provided plenty of go-forward, scoring, and a high work rate throughout.

Lucas LaCamp, UCLA

The blazing UCLA center/fullback is more than just fast—he can read the game and exploit chances. He did this in close losses to Arizona and to Saint Mary’s.

Seamus McCarthy, Arizona

The Wildcat prop did yeoman work in the front row for Arizona in a win over UCLA and a tie with Grand Canyon.

Max Schumacher, Cal

Cal started the year with three wins at the Storer Classic, and beat UC Santa Barbara, San Diego Legion Academy, Arizona, and Grand Canyon. Schumacher played fullback in the Storer final game, the last three listed above. In those four games, Schumacher scored 95 points, including four tries and seven conversions against GCU.

Cam Nelson, Central Washington

The CWU prop continued to get his team go-forward with massive carries and backed that up with good work in the set piece and on defense as CWU beat Western Washington, Trinity Western, and Washington, and lost a close one to BYU.

Ethan Van Tonder, Grand Canyon

The GCU flyhalf’s goalkicking and running ensured an impressive tie against Arizona, and he continues to keep the scoreboard ticking over for the ‘Lopes.

Mauricio Trevino, Texas

The Longhorns loosehead prop scored three tries in a remarkable comeback win over Baylor.
