On April 9, with temperatures expected to reach 90 degrees, Southern California will see a clash between some of the top high school girls U18 teams.

The undefeated Fallbrook Warriors will take the pitch against Belmont Shore, Long Beach, Los Angeles Tribe, and Tri-City Thunder. Fallbrook is coming off the SoCal Youth Rugby Championships High School 7s season where they went undefeated and unscored upon; and now the Warriors have continued the unbeaten streak into High School 10s club season.

The SoCal Rugby 10s Club Season started with the Rugby Round-Up Tens Championship Tournament on March 5 on the grassy pitch at Cathedral High School. The tournament was comprised of six teams from the southwestern states: Fallbrook Warriors, Kahuku Ruby (Hawaii), San Diego Mustangs, Arizona Bobcats, Rhinos Rugby and South Bay Spartans Rugby Clubs all vying for the first SoCal 10s Championship Trophy.

For many of the teams, this was the first competition post the sevens season and for most it was an introduction to 10s play and reintroduction to hard hitting rugby. Rugby 10s is a style competition new for many in Southern California, where increased contact and reduced running lanes have given many players a chance to show off the physicality of their squads.

But 10s or 7s, Fallbrook Warriors remained undefeated and unscored upon, winning the inaugural Rugby Tens Championship and hoping to keep their momentum into club season.

With the Girls HS 10s ruby season in full swing, through Week 2 Fallbrook are 6-0 and their defensive dominance continues, with shutout wins over Empire, Tri-City Thunder, and the Black and Red squads of the San Diego Mustangs. Total points for and against: 332-0.

Fallbrook is led by Seniors Tiahna Padilla, Jordan Duncan and Briana Beath whose experience and leadership have bolstered the Warriors swarming defense and strategical offensive play.  This weekend the Warriors will face three talented and physical squads and looking to keep the ball rolling.
