In the picturesque setting of Starfire Stadium, amidst conditions perfectly tailored for the rugged elegance of rugby, the Eastside Lions Varsity and Liberty Rugby Club clashed in a spectacle that had the honor of setting the stage for the Seattle Seawolves vs the Dallas Jackals match.

This April 5th encounter promised intensity and delivered in full, as both teams, well-acquainted through years of competition and camaraderie, vied to outdo each other on this prestigious platform.

From the outset, the match was charged with a palpable intensity, as old rivalries were rekindled on the field. The Eastside Lions, determined to extend their unbeaten streak, faced a well-drilled Liberty side, setting the scene for an epic showdown. The story began with Eastside asserting dominance early on; Julian Notoa pierced through Liberty's defenses for the first try, converted by Jerry Fleming.

The Lions' momentum was relentless, with a strategic play leading to captain Etu Lolohea bulldozing his way to the tryline; again, Fleming's conversion sailed through the posts. Notoa, with a blend of agility and brute strength, secured his second try, further amplifying Eastside's lead. Despite the onslaught, Liberty's resolve remained unshaken, particularly showcased by veteran Jamie Brooks's lineout masterclass and Miguel Savea's elusive run leading to Liberty's first try, a testament to their fighting spirit.

The first half concluded with Eastside leading 21-5, a score that somewhat belied the competitive nature of the game.

The second half saw no wane in Eastside's attacking verve, quickly extending their lead through Julius Leapai and witnessing Notoa complete his hat-trick with a dazzling run. Yet, Liberty continued to battle valiantly, notching another try to their name through concerted forward play.

The final chapters of the match saw Eastside's Kellen Eskridge and Sulaiman Rahman further cement their dominance with spectacular tries, bringing the scoreline to a commanding 47-12 victory for the Lions. However, the score scarcely reflected the competitiveness and spirit of the contest, which kept the audience riveted till the end, serving as a splendid precursor to the Seawolves game.

Julian Notoa, with his man-of-the-match performance, exemplified the essence of rugby - skill, strength, and sportsmanship, contributing significantly not just in scoring but in every phase of play. Both teams, through their unwavering commitment and skill, epitomized the spirit of rugby, leaving an indelible mark on the fans and setting a high standard for the games to follow. The match at Starfire Stadium was not merely a game but a celebration of rugby, camaraderie, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
