DIAA Games This Weekend

The Gold Coast, Pacific Western, and Florida are all in action this week.

The Gold Coast is a hybrid league with small-college and DIAA teams in it, and so there are all sorts of weird permutations within the games. We did see U. San Diego start off well last week, and they host Azusa Pacific this week. The team USC beat, Arizona State, hosts Long Beach State, and that's an important game for both.

Program Spotlight: Cal State Long Beach

We've gone deep into the Florida DIAA league, and this week we've got 3-0 Florida State vs 0-2 Florida! And while you'd be forgiven for thinking FSU is favored, it's worth noting that Florida's two losses came by a combined six points and they scored four tries each time. They aren't that far away from winning a game.

Western Washington was supposed to host UVic in a tough one a week after beating Oregon State. But ... right, you've heard this one before. Canadian teams are having a tough time traveling. (This despite Canada being over 80% fully vaccinated and all COVID metrics trending down and the same metrics trending down in the USA and the state of Washington at over 70% fully vaccination. Don't get us started on this but a traveling rugby team is NOT the risk factor to worry about.) Anyway ... WWU plays the Valley Kangaroos men's team.

In the Pac West, Stanford and their goalkicking prop Diego Burgos are coming off a 70-15 win over San Jose State with center Moe Khalil scoring three tries. They get to play the formidable Fresno State, who won big over Chico State last week. And we also have 2-0 UCSC against 1-1 Sac State in a clash that could set up the Slugs vs the FSU Bulldogs next week.
